In response to the greatly reduced levels of community transmission in NSW, the 10km participation boundary for gymnastics clubs in Greater Sydney will be lifted as of Saturday the 26th of September. You can read the latest Office of Sport statement here.

Please note that our COVID Safe measures as detailed in our Return to Training Plan remain in place.

Update as of 24th of September 2020: The 10km participation will be lifted on the 26th of September. Please see the most recent news post for more information.

In response to the latest NSW Health Advice for Sport and Recreation, Gymnastics NSW will be implementing a new 10km participation boundary for club members. This means that Trampoline and Tumbling athletes must now live within 10km of the Youth Club in order to continue to participate in our program. This change will come into effect from the 28th of August 2020. Please note this restriction does not apply to school classes or students in our Karate Program.

If you live outside the boundary and do not have another Gymnastics NSW club with a Trampoline and Tumbling program in your area, you will still be eligible to attend our club under the specialised training rule. As we are the only Trampoline and Tumbling program in the South East region, none of our members will be effected at this stage. This may change if the NSW situation worsens.

If you have any questions or are unsure about your eligibility, please contact Trampoline Head Coach Robert Bull on (02) 9522 0484.

When the Youth Club shutdown in March due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we were unsure when we would be able to return. While our doors may have been closed, there was plenty going on behind the scenes to make sure that we would be ready to reopen when the NSW situation stabilised and restrictions eased.

During our closure, all coaches were required to complete the Department of Health Covid-19 Infection Control Training. Our Trampoline and Tumbling coaches were also engaged in a number of professional development activities including weekly online seminars on topics such as strength and conditioning, injury prevention techniques and behaviour management. Additionally, our four Beginner coaches begun their Intermediate Trampoline Coaching Accreditation while our Intermediate and Advanced Coaches begun accreditations in new disciplines including Tumbling, KinderGym and Gymnastics for All.

We also took the opportunity to undertake a number of maintenance tasks in and around the Youth Club including servicing our heaters and remounting the wall matting in the Trampoline Hall. COVID safety equipment such as perspex shields and a cover for the bubbler were also installed to protect the health of our members and staff. Finally, a deep clean of the Karate Room and Trampoline Hall took place in the week prior to reopening to ensure that the Club was safe and ready for our members to return.

Our COVID-19 Safety Plan was put together by Chief Instructor Louise Brown and Coach Emily. This information was communicated to our coaches through a COVID-19 Staff Handbook and to our members via our Return to Training Plan. In the week prior to reopening, all Youth Club coaches attended a Safety Induction to ensure they fully understood the new COVIDSafe policies.

It has now been a whole two weeks since we reopened and the Youth Club has quickly settled into the new normal. As always with this pandemic, it is an ever evolving situation and things may change quickly. Any changes to restrictions or Youth Club policies will be quickly communicated to our members via email and using our social media accounts. We are very grateful for your continued support throughout this trying time and we can assure you that our commitment to providing safe, fun and inclusive activities for young people remains unchanged.

All the best,

The Miranda RSL Youth Club Coaching Team.

It’s now only a few hours until we open our doors! For the safety of our members, please DO NOT come to training if:

  •  You or an immediate family member is unwell or have COVID-19 symptoms (including fever, sore throat, cough or shortness of breath).
  • You have been in contact with someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19 in the last 14 days.
  • You have been advised to self isolate by health authorities (including those currently awaiting COVID-19 test results).
  • You have returned from overseas in the last 14 days.
  • You have visited Victoria in the last 14 days.
  • You have recently visited any of the NSW Hotspots listed on the NSW Government website.

We will be implementing a number of new measures including temperature checks on arrival and physically distanced lesson plans to help us keep our members and staff COVID safe. For a full explanation of our new policies, read our Return To Training Plan.

On Thursday the 16th of July, several Trampoline and Tumbling coaches took part in a deep clean of the Trampoline Hall in preparation for the clubs scheduled reopening on the 20th of July. This deep clean included:

  • Cleaning all specialised equipment including trampolines, landing mats and boxes.
  • Vacuuming internal roofs, wiping down wall padding and clearing out old cobwebs along the external plastic cladding.
  • Wiping down display cabinets and storage units.
  • Packing away unnecessary furniture and equipment to maximise floor space.
  • Setting up hand sanitiser stations, putting up COVID-19 signage and laying down physical distancing markers.
  • A thorough vacuum of the entire gym.

Thank you to all the coaches who came along and helped out. The Karate Room deep clean is taking place today.

We are now fully ready to reopen, our COVIDSafe plan is in place, our coaches have been trained in our new procedures and COVIDSafe practices and our club is clean and ready to go. Classes resume next week, we can’t wait to see you there!

Our coaches are now back in the Youth Club and working very hard to get everything ready for when classes resume on the 20th of July.

Stay tuned for more updates in the near future.

Please read the following update from our Club President Ann Corey-Hewitt.

We look forward to seeing you when we return at the beginning of Term 3!

Next Saturday is ANZAC Day. While we won’t be gathering for our traditional Dawn Service, there are still ways that you can commemorate the occasion at home.

At 6am on ANZAC Day, we ask you to stand in your driveway, on your balcony or in your living room to remember all those who have served and sacrificed. You can tune in to the Australian War Memorial commemorative service from 5:30am on the ABC.

Find out more about the RSL’s ANZAC Day 2020 initiative by visiting RSLNSW.org.au.

Miranda RSL Youth Club is CLOSED until further notice. All Youth Club activities and events have been cancelled or postponed.

Please be sensible and stay safe. We hope to be back training soon.
