About.

Miranda RSL Youth Club was established in 1962 and is an affiliate of the Miranda RSL Sub-Branch. The Sub-Branch provides the Youth Club with financial assistance each year which contributes to the purchase of new equipment and subsidising athlete fees. The Youth Club also receives financial assistance from JFD Global in support of our Coach Education program.

The Youth Club has a proud history of offering fun and inclusive activities for young people. The Club currently has around 100 members and 15 coaches who instruct Karate, Trampoline and Tumbling. Membership is open to all young people up to 25 years of age.

The Karate program was founded in 1978 by Sensei Brian Cox and has been under Sensei Cox’s exclusive direction since 1989. Whilst the main emphasis at the Club is Karate-do training and development, many members have also achieved excellent competition results over the years, including places in both the Shotokan Karate International Australia (SKIA) National Championships and Shotokan Karate-do International Federation (SKIF) World Championships. The Karate activity has exclusive use of the Youth Centre’s Karate Room and offers a number of different classes that cater for a wide range of ages and ability levels.

The Trampoline program was founded in 1985. Recreational training is the primary focus of the Trampoline program however the club also has a successful competitive program that caters for those who wish to progress further in the sport. The Trampoline activity also works closely with local schools and runs programs for children with mild to severe disabilities. The Youth Club is a Rebound Therapy Centre of Excellence and is an accredited provider of Gymnastics Australia’s Launch Pad Initiative.

The Tumbling program is an extension of the Trampoline activity. Although still in its infancy, the program has already produced highly competitive athletes including State Team representatives and a National medalist.
