UPCOMING EVENT REMINDER

ANZAC Day is a very important date in the Youth Club calendar. It is a time for reflection, a chance to pay tribute to those who have served and to thank those who continue to serve today. This year’s ANZAC Day Dawn Service will be held on the 25th of April at the Miranda War Memorial. Youth Club members are strongly encouraged to attend.

All Youth Club members are asked to wear their club t-shirt and meet out the front of Diggers Miranda on The Kingsway at 5:15 am to march at 5:30 am. Refreshments will be available for purchase at the conclusion of the service.

End of Term 1

Term 1 is drawing to a close so here’s a quick update on the key dates you need to know. Classes in Term 1 will finish on Thursday the 12th of April. Trampoline classes will resume in Term 2 on Monday the 30th of April and Karate will resume on Tuesday the 1st of May.

We hope you have a lovely break and we look forward to having you back for another exciting term at Miranda RSL Youth Club.

Grand Prix 1 – 2018

Congratulations to our Trampoline and Tumbling levels athletes who kicked off their competition season with a solid performance at Grand Prix 1. We had a total of six athletes compete across three different disciplines. While our athletes were not able to come away with any places, it was still a very enjoyable day for all involved and we are very proud of the hard work and dedication of our competitors.

Thank you once again to all our wonderful coaches, volunteers and parents who help make these events possible.

Junior Coach Education Session

Today some of our junior coaches met up with our senior coaching staff for the second instalment in a series of educational sessions aimed at improving their awareness of technical information and helping them to develop their coaching skills. This is part of our junior coach mentor program and we hope that this will assist them in their role at the Youth Club and will help guide them as they progress through the Gymnastics Australia accreditation process.

National Stream State Trial 2 – 2018

Congratulations to our National Stream athletes who competed in yesterday’s State Trial 2. It was a long day for all with the competition stretching over 10 straight hours so we would like to use this opportunity to say a special thank you to our volunteer coaches, judges and spotters, without whom these competitions cannot go ahead. Being a small club we are always struggling for numbers so we are immensely grateful for the continued support of our members who show up time and time again to lend a hand and support their club.

Two of our athletes have now qualified for the State Team in at least 2 events. They will now be working hard in the lead up to their next event. Our National Stream athletes will be back in action at the end of April for State Championships.

National Stream State Trial 1 – 2018

Congratulations to our three National Stream athletes who competed at the first State Age Trial of 2018. While there were a lot of nerves early on, our athletes did well to push through and post solid routines.

A special congratulations to Olivia T. who placed first in U11 Tumbling and Tully A. who placed third in U13 Tumbling and Double Mini. In addition to placing in their events, Olivia and Tully were also able to qualify for the 2018 State Team during the competition. Anastasia G. competed in the U15 age group however was unable to place in either of her two events.

Congratulations to all of our athletes who competed at todays competition, we look forward to doing it all over again in two weeks for State Age Trial 2!

Return To Training – Term 1 2018

Welcome back to Miranda RSL Youth Club for 2018, we hope you have had a wonderful break.

Regular classes for Term 1 2018 resume on Tuesday the 30th January and finish on Thursday the 12th of April. There are a number of public holidays during the term that will affect the number of training weeks for some classes. Classes do not run on public holidays and this will be reflected in your term fees.

It is very important that you pay your fees on time. You must pay your Term Fee and Annual Registration Fee by the second week of term or your position in the class will be forfeited. If you have any issues meeting this requirement, please speak with Mr Bull so we can assist you.

We have also added a 2018 Events Calendar to our Activities pages. Located at the bottom of the page, these schedules list all upcoming events for your relevant activity. You can view our 2018 Karate events list here and our 2018 Trampoline events list here.

We look forward to having you back for another great year at Miranda RSL Youth Club.

2017 – Year in Review

That’s a wrap on classes for 2017! Thanks to all our athletes, members, volunteers and supporters who helped to make 2017 another great year for the Youth Club. Some of the year’s highlights are listed below;

  • For the first time, a dedicated Tumbling Class was added to the Timetable.
  • In April, 16 athletes, coaches and representatives had the honour of representing the Youth Club in the annual Sydney City ANZAC Day March as Australian flag bearers.
  • Three of our four competitors at the Trampoline Age State Championships were selected to attend the 2017 Australian National Gymnastics Championships held in Melbourne in May. A special congratulations to Tully A. who was awarded 2nd place in U11 Men Tumbling and Jared B. who was awarded 2nd place in 17+ Men Double Mini.
  • During the year, we had several Trampoline athletes attend the Grand Prix competition series for Levels athletes. At the conclusion of the series, Katherine C. was awarded Level 4 Women overall champion.

  • In July, seven Karate athletes attended the K.I. NSW State Championships. Congratulations to gold medalists Liam B., Jack G., Nicholas G., Ethan I., and Lucas V.
  • Also in July, the club purchased a brand new 20m tumbling air floor to further advance our tumbling program.
  • Six Trampoline athletes attended the Spring State Championships. Congratulations to:
    • Olivia T. (4th Level 3 Tumbling)
    • Tully A. (2nd Level 4 Double Mini & 4th Level 4 Trampoline)
    • Anastasia G. (3rd Level 5 Double Mini & 6th Level 5 Trampoline)
  • In September, Nicholas G. achieved his Second Degree Black Belt (Nidan) during the Shotokan Karate International Australia National Seminar. Earlier in the year, Nicholas also achieved a 3rd place at the Australian Karate Federation Nationals. Congratulations Nicholas!
  • The Sydney East Region Trampoline Team, led by Mr Bull, had another successful year at the Combined High Schools Championships. Congratulations to Ronan S. (Multi Class Men), Luke W. (13yr Men) and Stephanie R. (Multi Class Women) who placed first overall in their respective age groups.
  • A total of four Karate athletes attended the S.K.I.A. National Championships. Congratulations to our gold medalists Nigel G. and Lucas V.
  • In October, Leanne was selected to judge at the New Zealand Trampoline Championships and Trans-Tasman Championships as a member of the official Australian delegation. A huge congratulations to Leanne for this prestigious selection!
  • On the 5th of November,  representatives of the Youth Club and of Miranda RSL Sub Branch attended the 2017 Remembrance Day Ceremony at Oatley Sub Branch.
  • We finished the year off with Display Day, our annual athlete showcase and presentation day. We once again had a fantastic turnout and it was great to see so many members and spectators come out to support the Youth Club and it’s activities.

Thanks for another great year, we look forward to seeing you back next year. Regular classes start back on Tuesday the 30th of January, 2018.
